Frequently Asked Questions

Am I fully licensed?

No, I am currently APSW (advanced practice social worker) in anticipating to be fully licensed within a year (give or take). I am under supervision of fully licensed clincal social worker, Katy Hagmeyer with DeafInspire. Please be assured that I am fully qualified to provide the direct service. With me, I bring more than 20 years of counseling experience.

Do you offer remote counseling sessions?

Currently, I provide only remote counseling sessions. I am using videophone (for deaf clients). I am also open to hearing clients using zoom platform.

How can I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by contacting me via phone or email, or by filling out the contact form on my website. Because I am APSW right now, DeafInspire is the wonderful agency I work with to ensure the full service you deserve.

What makes your counseling approach unique?

My service comes with the unique approach lies in the ASL fluency and in my commitment to providing emotional and mental well-being support specifically tailored for the Deaf community as well as for ASL members.

What is your self-pay rates?

I am working with DeafInspire. They will receive small commission for the billing service.

$125 per 45-minute call

$45 for every 20 minutes after 45 minutes.

PayPal would be the venue where you pay for my services.

Do you bill insurance or see clients through insurance?

Yes and No.

YES... I work with DeafInspire (also a professional licensed clinical social worker) and they will handle bill/insurance. Often, I will refer potential clients to them. Then DeafInspire can decide to refer the client back to me. We have a wonderful relationship and you would be in their good hands. For any clients with Medicare and Medicaid would be under the service of DeafInspire. Again, I do work with them and they will refer you back to me as they see the fit. Please note that I AM NOT ALLOWED to bill you directly if you are medicare or medicaid client per law.

NO... I do not, and will not, bill your insurance for my service. I do not see clients through insurance (except a referral from DeafInspire). As an out-of-network provider, I can send you a superbill after a session (4-5 business days). In the superbill is an itemized list of all services you received. Superbill will come with all the necessary information to seek reimbursement from your insurance company. I will not speak with your insurance company directly to protect your confidentiality.

Please note that your insurance company may not reimburse you fully. If so, you are still expected to paid for your full service.

What is your office hours?

I do not have office hours. The hours are the appointment-based schedule. This means I may be available on weekdays, weeknights, and weekends. I do this to help you not miss your work or any obligations to duty you may have.

Do you keep everything in private?

Yes. Absolutely. And it is by law to do so. HIPAA is the federally regulating law to protect your personal health information. However, it is by law that would also require me to break confidentiality as follows: 1) if you are in immedate danger or threat to yourself or other (after all, I would be a terrible person to allow you to harm yourself or others), 2) if I suspect any suspicion of child abuse or dependent elder abuse (again, I would be a terrible person to allow one to continue the sufferings; I would act on out of the good faith), and/or 3) if I am being subpoenaed to court.

Additionally, you may permit me to act on your behalf to share the information. This would require you to sign the release of information to consent me to do so.
