Conversation about Angry

Published on 2 March 2025 at 20:08

Few times since last week, I encountered people in their moment of anger. In my work. In my family. In my social circle. In my church. In my social media. Basically, and literally, everywhere. That pings me something with the question: “Why are we so angry?”

I just told you… I am NOT telling you AGAIN!!!

Can’t you see I am busy?

Why don’t you just LISTEN? Follow and all’s well, RIGHT?

We all have every reason to be angry. Mad. Furious. Upset. Disappointed. Outraged. Discontented. But the question remained… why? Suddenly, a second question comes to my mind… are they for the right reason? Do they come with the right motive? Google up on why we get mad… there are many good results but interestingly enough… not many of them actually talk about the motive behind being upset.

Mainly, selfishness can be the reason for anger. Pride is another reason. Something does not go in your way… time to get mad. Dishes are not clean… time to get mad. Kids are not in bed when they are told to… time to get mad. Youngest daughter kept messing with this keyboard as I wrote my thoughts (see below for perfect example)… time to get mad (not really...). Wife did not get a hint to tune in to her husband’s needs… time to get mad. Friends decided to hang out with another friend without extending an invitation… time to get mad.

So… when is it okay to be mad? Never? Sometimes? Seldom? Once a spell? Rare?

Or… For what reason, it would be okay to be mad?

For most of you, you may already know… anger can be very destructive to any kind of relationship. Rarely, it is reciprocal. Rarely, it is restorative. Rarely, it is righteous. Sometimes we are quiet about it. Sometimes we get so explosive about it.

Often we would feel regret after being mad. If so, why are we getting mad the first time when we know what would happen. A good feeling never follows after the episode. So, why are we getting mad the first time?

Why are you so angry, then? Can we talk about it? There is a way out… to enjoy life without being angry all the time inside or outside. There is liberty. Want to talk about it? I know I do!
